Truck Parts HB Ltd operates from a warehouse and active dismantling yard at 1464 Southland Road, Hastings. Most of the business has grown through word of mouth and repeat customers in Hawke’s Bay’s transport sector rather than advertising.
The business is run by Blair, who holds a New Zealand Certificate in Engineering (Mechanical) and spent years as a diesel mechanic on heavy transport vehicles before founding Truck Parts HB. One job that captures how we work: a Hino 500 Series FM arrived with a seized crankshaft after a coolant system failure caused an overheat. Blair matched a reconditioned Hino short block from our own dismantling stock with genuine Hino head components ordered same-day through our supplier network. Hino Truck Parts & Services
We stock parts for the complete Hino range – 300, 500, and 700 Series. Here is what comes up most often on each:
Hino 300 Series (light to medium duty): The most common call on 300 Series trucks is turbo replacement. The 4JJ1 and J05E turbos fitted to WU and XZU models have known fatigue issues at higher mileage. We keep both genuine Hino and quality aftermarket turbo units in stock. Glow plugs, injectors, and front suspension bushes are also regular movers.
Hino 500 Series (medium to heavy duty): Gearbox rebuilds and replacements dominate on the 500. GH and FL models see steady work on Allison AT545 and ZF Ecolite transmissions. We stock reconditioned units and source OEM rebuild parts for workshop jobs. Diff seals and hub bearing kits are the other high-demand line.
Hino 700 Series (heavy haulage): Cab and body panels are the main request on the 700. Bonnets, guards, and door skins get damaged on these trucks, and genuine cab parts for SS and SH models can be slow through the main dealer network. We carry used 700 Series cab parts from our dismantling yard and typically turn them around faster than a new OEM order.

Warranty and returns: Used parts carry a 30-day warranty against defects identified at the time of sale. New and reconditioned parts carry the manufacturer or remanufacturer warranty.
